King Solomon

Matthew 12:40-42 Disciples’ Literal New Testament (DLNT)

40 For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea-creature[a], so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights[b] in the heart of the earth.

The Ninevites Will Condemn This Generation, For They Repented At Jonah’s Message

41 “Ninevite men will rise-up at the judgment with this generation, and they will condemn it. Because they repented at the proclamation of Jonah, and behold— a greater thing than Jonah is here. 42 The Queen of the South will be raised at the judgment with this generation, and she will condemn it. Because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold— a greater thing than Solomon is here.

Footnotes:

  1. Matthew 12:40 Or, huge fish. This is a generic term used of large sea creatures.
  2. Matthew 12:40 A day and a night is one day, as in Gen 1:5. This is another way of saying ‘three days’. It does not mean 72 hours.

A virtuous woman for a man? A virtuous is somebody for example somebody having or showing high moral standards. “She considered herself very virtuous because she neither drank nor smoked”

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Proverbs 5:16-19  And don’t be like a stream
    from which just any woman
    may take a drink.
17 Save yourself for your wife
    and don’t have sex
    with other women.
18 Be happy with the wife
you married
    when you were young.
19 She is beautiful and graceful,
    just like a deer;
you should be attracted to her
    and stay deeply in love.

Proverbs 5:16-19 New Living Translation (NLT) 16 Why spill the water of your springs in the streets,  having sex with just anyone? 17 You should reserve it for yourselves.  Never share it with strangers. 18 Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 She is a loving deer, a graceful doe.  Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.

Is it true that King Solomon had 1000 wives/mistresses or is the number incorrect?

Would any woman like to be married to King Solomon and be one of the 1000 wives?

Wow, there are only 365 days/year. Every 3rd year to be in that bedroom? If the luck was on that woman’s side, so to say.

Would any man like to have 1000 wives/lovers?

Salomons Vishet Apokryferna 12:3/4.

Wisdom of Solomon 5 Good News Translation (GNT)

The Regrets of the Wicked

5:5 On that day someone righteous, full of confidence, will stand before those who oppressed him and made light of his labors. They will be amazed to see him safe and will tremble with terrible fear. Then they will regret what they did, and groaning in anguish they will say to each other: This is the one we made fun of. We thought he was a joke. What fools we were! We thought he was crazy to live the way he did, and when he died, we didn’t honor him. And now here he is, one of God’s own children, with a place of his own among God’s people.

5:6 We were the ones who wandered off the right road. We never lived in the light of righteousness; we never caught the first glimmer of its light. All our lives we wandered across unmarked deserts, instead of following the road which the Lord wanted us to travel. And this lawlessness led us to ruin. We were so proud of ourselves—we bragged about how rich we were—and now, what good has it done us? All those things are gone now; they have disappeared like a shadow, like something you hear and then forget.

Wisdom 5 Common English Bible (CEB)

Final judgment

5:5 Then the one who did do what was right will stand up with full confidence in the very midst of those who caused his suffering and made light of his distress. They will tremble with great fear when they see him. They will be amazed that he was delivered so unexpectedly. They will sing a different tune as they gasp and say to themselves: He’s the one we mocked?! He’s the one we insulted? What idiots we were! We thought his life was madness and his death a disgrace. How is it that he’s now counted among God’s children? How is it that he’s now considered one of the saints?

5:6 Clearly we were the ones who missed the way to truth. The light that would have shown us the right thing to do hasn’t shone for us. That sun didn’t rise upon us. We got entangled in lawlessness and destruction. We wandered through desolate wildernesses. We didn’t know the Lord’s way.

5:8 What good did our pride do us? What good were our wealth and pretension? These things have all passed away like a shadow. They’re gone like old news.

CEB 11:15 Because their foolish and wicked thoughts had led them astray to worship unthinking reptiles and worthless animals, you sent hordes of mindless creatures upon them as a punishment. 16 In this way they learned that people are punished by the very same things by which they sin.

GNT 11:15 Their wickedness misled them into silly ideas, so that they worshiped snakes and other disgusting animals, creatures without any powers of reason. Because of this, you punished them with millions of such animals, 16 and taught them that punishment for sin takes the same form as the sin itself.

Good News Translation (GNT) 7:16 We are under his power and authority—we ourselves, our words, all our understanding and skills. 17 It is he who gave me true knowledge of the forces of nature: what the world is made of; how the elements behave; 18 how the calendar is determined by the movements of the sun, the changing seasons, 19 the constellations, and the cycles of years. 20 He has taught me about the nature of living creatures, the behavior of wild animals, the force of the winds, the reasoning powers of human beings, the different kinds of plants, and the use of their roots as medicine. 21 I learned things that were well known and things that had never been known before, 22 because Wisdom, who gave shape to everything that exists, was my teacher. The spirit of Wisdom is intelligent and holy. It is of one nature but reveals itself in many ways. It is not made of any material substance, and it moves about freely. It is clear, clean, and confident; it cannot be harmed. It loves what is good. It is sharp and unconquerable,23 kind, and a friend of humanity. It is dependable and sure, and has no worries. It has power over everything, and sees everything. It penetrates every spirit that is intelligent and pure, no matter how delicate its substance may be.

7:24 Wisdom moves more easily than motion itself; she is so pure that she penetrates everything. 25 She is a breath of God’s power—a pure and radiant stream of glory from the Almighty. Nothing that is defiled can ever steal its way into Wisdom. 26 She is a reflection of eternal light, a perfect mirror of God’s activity and goodness. 27 Even though Wisdom acts alone, she can do anything. She makes everything new, although she herself never changes. From generation to generation she enters the souls of holy people, and makes them God’s friends and prophets. 28 There is nothing that God loves more than people who are at home with Wisdom. 29 Wisdom is more beautiful than the sun and all the constellations. She is better than light itself,30 because night always follows day, but evil never overcomes Wisdom.

Wisdom 7:16-29 Common English Bible (CEB)

7:16 We’re in God’s hands, as are our words, all our reasoning, and all our practical knowledge. 17 He’s given me accurate knowledge of all that is—of how the world is made and holds together, and of the forces at work in the world’s essential elements. 18 He’s given me knowledge of the beginning, end, and middle of time; of the alternation of the solstices and the changes of seasons; 19 of the cycle of the year and the positions of the stars; 20 of the nature of animals, the temperaments of beasts, the extraordinary powers of spirits, the thoughts of humans, the different types of plants, and the healing powers of roots. 21 I now know everything, visible and hidden, 22 for Wisdom, the designer of everything that is, has taught me.

Her spirit is insightful, holy, unique, diverse, refined, kinetic, pure, spotless, transparent, harmless, delighting in what is good, sharp,23 unstoppable, overflowing with kindness, delighting in humans, steadfast, secure, not anxious, all-powerful, and all-seeing. Her spirit can be found in every spirit that is perceptive, pure, and refined.24 Wisdom is more mobile than anything that moves. She pervades and embraces everything because she is so pure. 25 Wisdom is the warm breath of God’s power. She pours forth from the all-powerful one’s pure glory. Therefore, nothing impure can enter her. 26 She’s the brightness that shines forth from eternal light. She’s a mirror that flawlessly reflects God’s activity. She’s the perfect image of God’s goodness. 27 She can do anything, since she’s one and undivided. She never changes, and yet she makes everything new. Generation after generation, she enters souls and shapes them into God’s friends and prophets. 28 God doesn’t love anything as much as people who make their home with Wisdom. 29 She’s more splendid than the sun and more wonderful than the arrangement of the stars. She’s even brighter than sunlight.

Wisdom (of Salomon) 4Good News Translation (GNT)

4:10 Once there was a man named Enoch who pleased God, and God loved him. While Enoch was still living among sinners, God took him away,11 so that evil and falsehood could not corrupt his mind and soul. ( 12 We all know that people can be so fascinated by evil that they cannot recognize what is good even when they are looking right at it. Innocent people can be so corrupted with desire that they can think of nothing but what they want.) 13 This man Enoch achieved in a few years’ time a perfection that other people could never attain in a complete lifetime.14 The Lord was pleased with Enoch’s life and quickly took him out of this wicked world. People were aware of his departure but didn’t understand. They never seemed to learn the lesson 15 that God is kind and merciful to his own people; he protects those whom he has chosen.

(Enoch lived for 365 years.  Genesis 5:23)

Wisdom 4Common English Bible (CEB)

14:10 There was a man who pleased God, was loved by God, and was taken away from living in the midst of sinners. 11 He was snatched away so that evil didn’t pervert his understanding and so that deception didn’t corrupt his soul. 12 Envying what is worthless blinds people to what is good, and the whirlwind of desire undermines an innocent mind.

22 I will tell you what Wisdom is, and how she came to be. I will not keep anything secret. I will trace her history from the beginning and make knowledge of her open to all. I will not ignore any part of the truth. 23 No jealous desire to guard my own knowledge will make me hold back anything. Wisdom has nothing in common with such an attitude. 24 No indeed—the more wise people there are, the safer the world will be. A sensible king can be depended on to give his people this kind of security.25 So then, learn what I am about to teach you, and you will profit from it.

Solomon’s Forbidden Marriages and Idolatry

1 Kings 11:

1But King Solomon marrieda many foreign women besides the daughter of Pharaoh: women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, and Sidonia, along with Hittite women, too, 2all of them from nations that the LORD had ordered the Israelis, “You are not to associate withb them and they are not to associate with you, because they will most certainly turn your affectionscaway to follow their gods.” Solomon became deeply attached to them by falling in love. 3He had 700 princess wives and 300 mistressesd whoe turned his heart away from the LORD (GOD),f4because as Solomon grew older, his wives turned his affections away after other gods, and his heart was not fully as devoted to the LORD his God as his father David’s heart had been.5Solomon pursued Astarte, the Sidonian goddess, and Milcom, that detestable Ammonite idol. 6Solomon practiced what the LORD considered to be evil by not fully following the LORD, as had his father David. 7Later, Solomon even constructed a high place on the mountain east of Jerusalem that was dedicated to Chemosh, that detestable Moabite idol, and to Molech, the detestable Ammonite idol. 8Solomong did this for all of his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their own gods.

9The LORD became angry at Solomon because his heart wandered away from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twiceh 10and warned him about this so he would not pursue other gods. But he did not obey what the LORD had commanded, 11so the LORD told Solomon, “Because you have done this and haven’t kept my covenant and statutes that I commanded you, I’m going to tear the kingdom from you and give it to your servant. (Jerobeam) 12I’m not going to do this during your lifetime, for the sake of your father David, but I will tear it out of your son’s control.i 13For the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, I won’t tear away the entire kingdom. I’ll leave one tribe for your son to govern.j

29During that time, Jeroboam left Jerusalem and the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite met him on the road. Ahijah had wrapped himself up in a new cloak, and both of them were alone on the open road.30Ahijah grabbed the new cloak that he was wearing and tore it into twelve pieces! 31Then he told Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces for yourself, because this is what the LORD God of Israel says:

‘Pay attention! I’m going to tear the kingdom out of Solomon’s controlp and give you ten tribes32I’ll leave him one tribe for the sake of my servant David and one tribeq (Levi?) for the sake of Jerusalem, the city that I chose from all of the tribes of Israel. 33I’m doing thisr because they have abandoned me and worshipped that Sidonian goddess Astarte, the Moabite god Chemosh, and the Ammonite god Milcom. They haven’t lived my way by doing what I consider to be right and observing my statutes and my ordinances, like his father David did.

34‘Nevertheless, I won’t take the entire kingdom away from him, but I’ll let him reign for the rest of his life, because of my servant David, whom I chose, who obeyed my commandments and statutes, 35but I will take the kingdom away from his son’s controls and give ten tribes to you. 36I’ll give one tribe to his son, so my servant David will always have a light shining in my presence in Jerusalem, the city that I chose for myself and where I have placed my name.37I’m going to take you and have you reign over whatever you desire. You (Jerobeam) will be king over Israel. 38If you  (Jerobeam) listen to everything that I command you to do, and if you live your life my way,t and if you do what I consider to be right by observing my statutes and my commandments, just like my servant David did, then I will be with you, I will build an enduring dynasty for you,u just like I did for David, and I’ll give Israel to you. 39This is how I’m going to afflict David’s descendants because of what they have done, though I won’t do it continuously.’”

What happened is, that both sides, Israel as well as Judah and Levi committed crimes against The True Good God Yah back and forth during the Bible’s time, repenting and then falling over and over again for other false gods because of the offered magics from the devilish gods and in that way being unfaithful to The True Good God Yah.

But in the end the true ones elected by The True Good God will govern the earth consisting of 144 000 governors/rulers, 12 000 from each and every tribe of Israel.

God’s chosen people are not only descendants from Shem, because Shem is mixed with Ham and Japhet who also worshiped other gods, that means they belong to Israel as well, as long as they do not worship other gods than Only True Good God Yah, then they might be the chosen ones to live forever on this earth or a new earth, even if they die, apart from the 144000 governors/leaders chosen by The Good One and Only True God Yah. God sees to every human’s heart.

Praise from the Great Crowd

9After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10And they were shouting with a great roar,

“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne

and from the Lamb!”

11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. 12They sang,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom

and thanksgiving and honor

and power and strength belong to our God

forever and ever! Amen.”

13Then one of the twenty-four elders (one of the ancients) asked me, “Who are these who are clothed in white? Where did they come from?”

14And I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.”

Then he said to me, “These are the ones who died ina the great tribulation.b They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.

15“That is why they stand in front of God’s throne

and serve him day and night in his Temple.

And he who sits on the throne

will give them shelter.

16They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
